Research Refresher: Evaluating Resources In-Person / Online
Bring your lunch to the Digital Learning Lab -- or your desk -- and join Dora as she explores some basic research skills in this refresher session, although we hope you will learn some new things as well.This week, we will discuss different ways we evaluate sources, whether they are scholarly or not. The actual workshop session runs for about half an hour, but I will remain in the lab and online for another half hour for questions and socializing.
In this workshop, we will focus on:
- A quick review of journal and author credential evaluation
- Textual evaluation of a source for bias
- Developing a basic list of evaluation criteria, and ways to hone it for specific circumstances
