Structuring Your Paper (Research Tea) In-Person / Online

In this workshop, we will focus on the structure of a basic academic research paper:

Do you find the task of condensing a semester's worth of research into a paper daunting? Learning to hack the structure of a basic paper will help immensely.. So, this week, we will discuss:

  • Basic paper organization
  • Building a visual graphic of your paper
  • Finding and supporting your thesis
  • Turning the graphic into a proper outline (or just writing from the graphic)

Join Dora for afternoon tea and cookies (or biscuits, if you are feeling British!), If you are joining us online, please make yourself a cup of tea and your favorite sweet. Spend half an hour with Dora as she explores some basic research skills in this refresher session, although we hope you will learn some new things as well. Our focus this week is on identifying the basic structure of a research paper and writing to that frame. The actual workshop session runs for about half an hour, but I will remain in the lab and online for another half hour for questions and socializing.
